PPP considers complete elimination of terrorism its top priority, says Nayyer Hussain Bukhari
There can be no compromise on national security; the security of Pakistan is dearer to us than our lives, says Nayyer Hussain Bukhari
Islamabad: Secretary General of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, has said that the PPP considers the complete elimination of terrorism its top priority and places it above all political and other matters. There can be no compromise on national security, and the security of Pakistan is dearer to us than our lives.
He said the rising incidents of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were extremely alarming. Attacks on police posts, police stations and places of worship require the provincial government to take serious and effective measures to eliminate terrorism.
Nayyer Hussain Bukhari said that people in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were increasingly feeling unsafe. Instead of focusing on eliminating terrorism, the provincial government appeared more concerned with securing the release of the PTI founder. Cooperation between the provincial government, the federal government and national security institutions is essential in the fight against terrorism. Why is the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government reluctant to cooperate with national security institutions?
He said the cooperation extended by the Balochistan government to national security institutions was commendable. Terrorism is a national challenge, and the federal government and all provinces must work together to formulate and implement an effective strategy against it.
The PPPP Secretary General said that the people were facing terrorism on the one hand and inflation, unemployment and economic hardships on the other. In such circumstances, politicians must demonstrate seriousness and focus on public issues. Where are the public issues in the agenda of the participants of the long march? Why is the long march agenda silent on inflation, unemployment and rising petrol prices?
Nayyer Hussain Bukhari said that Governor’s Rule cannot be imposed without solid evidence and constitutional justification. Political problems cannot be resolved through force; their solution lies in negotiations and dialogue. Talks between the government and the opposition began following the demand of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. All political and national issues must be resolved through dialogue at the negotiating table.
He further said that judicial matters should be resolved through the courts. Following the Supreme Court’s decision, the matter is currently under consideration before the Federal Constitutional Court. Judicial matters should therefore be pursued strictly within the constitutional and legal framework.
