Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid tribute to the 16 brave PPP workers who embraced martyrdom on September 29, 1983, in Punhal Khan Chandio village of Shaheed Benazirabad district during the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD).

According to the press release issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP said in his message that on September 29, 1983, Shaheed Tharo Chandio, Shaheed Rajab Ali Chandio, Shaheed Ali Sher Chandio, Shaheed Ghulam Mustafa Chandio, Shaheed Pir Bux Chandio, Shaheed Urs Chandio, Shaheed Siddique Chandio, Shaheed Gulab Chandio, Shaheed Hashim Khaskheli, Shaheed Janib Khaskheli, Shaheed Meero Khaskheli, Shaheed Ali Gul Khaskheli, Shaheed Muhammad Ramzan Khaskheli, Shaheed Mehboob Ali Solangi, Shaheed Allah Rakhio Solangi and Shaheed Hussain Bux Manganhar laid down their lives for the people’s right to rule, the Constitution and democracy.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that during the dark era of dictatorship, PPP workers chose peaceful democratic resistance for the restoration of democracy rather than bowing before oppression. He said the martyrs of Punhal Khan Chandio village proved with their blood that the people’s right to rule could never be suppressed.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the sacrifices of these martyrs remain an unforgettable chapter in country’s democratic struggle. “The 16 martyrs of Punhal Khan Chandio, along with all the martyrs of the MRD movement, will forever live in our hearts, and their names will remain a beacon of the struggle for democracy for generations to come,” he concluded.
