Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the poor economic policies of the PTI government

ISLAMABAD / KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the poor economic policies of the PTI government, saying that the PTI government cannot cover up its incompetence by blaming the IMF for inflation. “The PTI government has handed over Pakistan’s  sovereignty by signing on to the repressive terms of the IMF deal,” said Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari
In a statement issued from the Media Cell Bilawal House, the Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari questioned the incumbent government, “Why is the inflation rate in Pakistan at 10.9% while India controlled it at 4.29% and Bangladesh at 5.54% during the pandemic?”
The mafia working under Imran Khan raised the price of chicken by 110% for PTI’s cartel to profit billions of rupees. And now, by reducing the rate slightly, they will also take credit for the price drop. “On one hand, people do not have any money in their pockets. On the other hand, Imran Khan plans to reward PTI assembly members with billions of rupees in the budget”, said Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded that the national exchequer be spent on the welfare of citizens, not to reward PTI members who came to power through rigged elections. “Rewarding 96 billion rupees to PTI members during an acute economic crisis is blatantly unjust, anti-people, and quite frankly grotesque.”, he added.
Chairman PPP also criticised Imran Khan’s government for not presenting its five-year economic plan after the conclusion of the 11th economic plan. “If PTI’s economic plan is only to be beholden to the IMF’s dictation, then Imran Khan should admit to the people of Pakistan that he came to power, not with a plan to serve the people, but a plan to serve only his cronies and himself.”

Faisal Karim Kundi’s press conference

Islamabad, 6 June 2021: Central Secretary Information Pakistan Peoples Party, Faisal Karim Kundi has said that there is one Pakistan for the Prime Minister and his cronies and another Pakistan for the rest of the people. Parliament should be taken into confidence about the situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US forces. He challenged the government and the Prime Minister to have a debate with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the Parliament on foreign affairs, economy, and other issues. The PTI does not have the courage to issue show-cause notices to the people of Jahangir Tareen group. If wheat and sugarcane crops have been bumper this year, then why sugar and bread have not become cheaper? He expressed these views in a joint press conference with the PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Secretary Senator Rubina Khalid.

Faisal Karim Kundi said that if there is good production of wheat and sugarcane then why sugar and bread have not become cheaper. He said the PPP demanded that closed-door meetings should not be held on the situation after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and that parliament be taken into confidence on the issue. He said that the Election Commission should take notice of the pressure on the people to support the PTI in the Kashmir elections. He said that the government wants a delay in the elections in Kashmir. Provinces are not getting water under Indus Basin Agreement. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is dumb which cannot talk to the federation, now PPP will demand Rs 586 trillion share of water from the federation to be given to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Tobacco is produced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but the tax is collected by the federation, Sindh Chief Minister has written a letter to the Prime Minister that the meeting of the National Economic Council was to be held twice a year, which did not happen.

He challenged the federal ministers to have a debate between the Prime Minister and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the Parliament on all issues and also evaluate the performance of the Chief Minister of all the provinces to see who has performed better. The attitude of the government is different to the opposition of Punjab and the opposition of Sindh. Opposition leadership from Sindh is arrested from the hospital whereas opposition leadership from Punjab is informed before arrest.  He said that all PPP MNAs are at the disposal of the opposition leader regarding the budget and will jointly reject the budget, he said. Kundi said that the PDM should first implement the decisions taken in the CEC meeting of the PPP regarding PDM and then the party will talk to the PDM. He asked where are the resignations that the PDM had to tender.

He said that PTI does not have the courage to issue show-cause notices to the people of Jahangir Tareen group. We do not take seriously the words of the Interior Minister who talks gibberish whenever he opens his mouth. Senator Rubina Khalid said that the chancellors of 26 universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are exploiting teachers who are the architects of the nation.

PIC order to make public perks and privileges of Judges welcomed

PIC order to make public perks and privileges of Judges welcomed

“Glory of judiciary lies in interpreting law that strengthens all democratic institutions”

Islamabad June 6, 2012: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians secretary general Senator Farhatullah Babar has welcomed the decision of the Pakistan Information Commission (PIC) declaring that information about pension, perks, privileges and post retirement benefits including plots allotted in government schemes to Judges falls in the category of public information and should be provided to the public under the RTI Act.

The PIC order on June 2 available on the Commission’s website is authored by Information Commissioner Zahid Abdullah on a petition moved by over thirty activists of Women Action Forum from all over the country who had earlier been denied it.

“The PIC order is a giant step forward in ensuring transparency and accountability in all institutions without favor or fear”, he said in a statement today.

The PIC order said that the exercise of constitutional right of citizens to seek information under RTI law did not amount to curtailing independence of judiciary nor it amounted to executive oversight of the judiciary.

Referring to some letter from the Office of Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan the order said that it was administrative in nature and not a judicial verdict.

Farhatullah Babar said that in the absence of clear cut judicial orders the PIC has made a correct and courageous determination that will always stand out as first line in any backgrounder about the Commission. He reminded that under the RTI Act parliament and courts were also public bodies and required to provide specific information under it when demanded.

He said that   the judiciary has upheld the rule of law and expressed the hope that it will also accept the decision of the PIC.

“The glory of the judiciary lies in interpreting law and the constitution in a manner that strengthened all democratic institutions and not merely that of the judiciary”, he said.

“The PIC order of June 2 will also send right signals to the defence establishment which has been denying information sought from it under the RTI Act”, he said.

The categories of information to be proactively disclosed under the Act are not in conflict with the independence of the judiciary, the PIC order said.

The PIC held that if citizens’ right of access to information in matters of public importance pertaining to superior judiciary is restricted on the grounds that it would impact its independence and core functions, the same grounds would be relevant in the case of all public institutions.

This is a stern reminder that every information sought from the defence establishment under RTI Act cannot be withheld in the name of national security, the PPPP secretary general said.

About the declaration of assets of judges and their family members the PIC order said that it was for the Parliament to enact legislation and not for the Commission.

The PIC order also said that the information sought should have been available with the Law and justice ministry in the form of official notifications and should have been placed on its website as required under Section 5 of the Act.

It also held that the voluntary provision of information by Justice Qazi Faez Isa recently cannot be equated with legally binding requirements for all justices under the Act.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s press conference

Islamabad, 4 June 2021: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that there is not one Pakistan, but two. One for the Prime Minister from Raiwind who despite a conviction was allowed to live abroad and other for the President from Nawabshah who is still living in the country and refuses to go abroad for medical treatment despite pleading of his children. He said that there is one Pakistan for the leader of opposition from Raiwind and other for the leader of opposition from Sukkur who has been thrown from pillar to post just to get bail for over two years. He said that it is flabbergasting for him and he is still looking for an answer.

He said this while addressing a press conference at Zardari House Islamabad on Friday. Farhatullah Babar, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, Senator Palwasha Khan and Faisal Karim Kundi were also present on the occasion

Chairman PPP said that the Prime Minister is again singing the tune of mafia and corruption. Now the selected PM says that if he gets the next tenure, there will be accountability, which is a joke. Khan Sahib had said that he wants Pakistan to be one. However, there is a double system here which he is benefitting from. This is political revenge and political engineering by this government. It is not a just system. I ask the Prime Minister where the accountability is and where is the justice? If the Prime Minister’s friends are accused, they do not go to jail. If the Prime Minister himself is accused, nothing happens. If the Prime Minister’s sister is accused, nothing happens.

He said that now the people will hold them accountable. The people are suffering due to this failed government. The parents, who cannot help their children from being deprived of education, cannot provide bread and water due to this selected government; will not spare the prime minister. The PPP believes in the people and the parliament. If the opposition parties do not have the power to overthrow this government, then there will be elections and then the people will grab their members by the necks. The focus of the entire nation is on the country’s economy.

The Prime Minister or his ministers have nothing to do with the common man. The government of Pakistan is not aware of the plight of the common man in every field. The prime minister says the hard times are over, but that is only the case for his ATM machines. On the other hand, the days of the common man are getting worse than before and the Prime Minister claims that the economy is growing. Inflation in Pakistan is higher than in all of South Asia, but he says the economy is growing. The people do not have two meals a day; the common man does not even have money for medicine and education. I wish the Prime Minister knew what the problems of the people are. If the economy is growing then why are you begging in the world and why do you not kick the IMF out, he asked. When the prime minister says the GDP is increasing then why beg from Islamic countries, Chairman PPP asked.

When your economy is improving, then you will increase the salaries of government employees by 100 percent, pensioners by 150 percent and salaries of soldiers by 175 percent. We hope that if there is money, all the problems including hunger, poverty, shelter and unemployment will be solved in a week. After the budget, there will be canals of milk and honey in the country. Now everyone, including Shaukat Tareen, has started admitting the truth of the PPP’s position. Former President Zardari used to say that NAB and economy cannot go hand in hand, and now the government has accepted this. The Finance Minister himself says that the deal with the IMF was wrong, then why are you still with the IMF, Chairman Bilawal asked the Prime Minister.

Chairman Bilawal said that the rulers are afraid of the people and even today they are running away from the Azad Kashmir elections. They also tried to cause trouble in the Senate but the Election Commission took a stand and did not allow rigging. Now that efforts are being made to bring electoral reforms through ordinances and the Election Commission has to take action. We will send a high-level delegation to the Election Commission to thwart this fraud attempt.

Chairman PPP said that the Media Ordinance is an attempt to control the media like the dictator Zia-ul-Haq. We have condemned the attack on Assad and the petition against Asma Shirazi and Hamid Mir. The government is showing its weakness of not being able to tolerate the truth.

Chairman Bilawal called for a briefing on the situation in Afghanistan. He said that we demand that you create a forum, be it a parliamentary committee or a speaker, to take Parliament into confidence. The decision on Afghanistan is now up to the people through the parliament.

Replying to questions by the journalists, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has the right to have his say. The PPP has a relation of three generations doing politics with his party. In spite of inappropriate behavior by some PML-N people, the PPP still wants to cooperate in the parliament with the opposition leader. He assured all his members’ support for the opposition leader to thwart this budget

If the parties in the PDM had been truthful in their resolve to tender resignation, they would have resigned the next day when we did not accept linking long march with resignations. If they had to resign, they should have resigned then and they can still resign if they want to. Punjab has been left at the mercy of Usman Buzdar. Fair distribution of water is essential not only for Sindh but for the entire country. The facilitators of the government are those who do not want to dislodge Imran and Bazdar despite the fact that numbers are there in the parliament to do so.  Chairman Bilawal said that the PPP is ready to thwart the budget despite all the differences and he offered all his members to Shahbaz Sharif. Let them thwart the budget and save the people from the scourge of inflation and unemployment, he said.

Faisal Karim Kundi’s rejoinder to Maulana Fazlur Reham

Islamabad, 3 June 2021: Reacting to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s press conference, PPP Central Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi said that PPP cannot leave the parliament at the mercy of Imran Khan on anyone’s wish. President Asif Ali Zardari restored the 1973 constitution with great difficulty. Leaving parliament means that the selected Prime Minister will be in a position to manipulate the constitution.

Kundi said that it seems that Maulana Fazlur Rehman once again wanted to play a game like LFO. He said that linking the long march with resignations was a dubious agenda. The nation is waiting to see when the PML-N and JUI-F resign from the assemblies. Faisal Karim Kundi said that the two parties had restricted the PDM to gossip meetings and put the PDM’s charter behind.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari statement on inflation

KARACHI/ISLAMABAD. June 3, 2021: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded the PTI government be held accountable for Pakistan’s rising inflation and the diminishing purchasing power of the rupee. This is critical at this point since Prime Minister Imran Khan has spent his entire tenure borrowing money. Where and how this money was utilised is still a mystery.
In a statement issued from the Media Cell Bilawal House, the Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated, “The ruling government borrows money to pay salaries, but has failed miserably on the economic front!” Highlighting the suffering of the masses, he observed that the common man’s income has been steadily declining. On the other hand, the rate of inflation skyrocketed after the end of PPP’s federal government – and it continues to drastically increase to date.
Chairman PPP also called out the PM for distorting the truth by claiming he has a role to play in Pakistan’s industrial growth. “Declarations such as these are ridiculous since the selected PM has admitted to a decline of more than 22% in the energy sector growth rate,” he said.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also brought to light the accomplishments of the PPP during its five-year tenure. “The income of the common citizen increased by 59%,” said  Chairman PPP said, “We also can’t ignore the fact that per capita income has increased the most in Sindh due to PPP’s provincial government’s initiative. Whereas, the PTI government has used the old census data to show higher per capita income,” he concluded.
However, these aren’t the only skeptical statistics that the citizens must ponder on. PTI also claimed to contribute to record wheat production. While the truth is, flour became 28% more expensive in just one year.
“Why would people be satisfied with the federal government’s claims of record sugarcane production when sugar has become 21% more expensive?” questioned Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “Does a 60 % increase in chicken prices in just one year count as an accomplishment?”

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto statement on next budget

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI. June 2, 2021: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has assured the nation that PPP will be taking all the necessary steps required to thwart the conspiracy formed to damage the common man in the upcoming budget economically.

In a statement issued from the Media Cell Bilawal House, the Chairman PPP exposed Prime Minister Imran Khan for hatching a plot with his advisors to target the low-income group in the budget 2021. He also pointed out that inflation in the country has already peaked at 20%, according to the SPI index. If the situation worsens, the impoverished will be unable to survive.

“By imposing heavy taxes in the budget, PTI government wants to burden those who are receiving low salaries,” declared Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “Imagine what Pakistan’s condition will be if the salaried group is tied up in taxes?”

Speaking of the COVID healthcare crisis and the downfall of world economies caused by the pandemic, Chairman PPP pointed out that the globe is already suffering. Several economies are on the brink of destruction, and we must ensure Pakistan is not one of them. There will be no greater injustice if our already crippling economy is presented with a budget that does not provide relief to the poverty-stricken public.

“Imran Khan is proving his enmity to the common people by giving amnesty schemes to the rich and collecting taxes from the poor,” remarked Chairman PPP. “How can he sit by and watch thousands of his countrymen die of hunger? Our future generations will be ruined since many families can’t afford to educate them,” he protested.

Addressing the selected prime minister’s claims regarding the nation’s economic growth, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari commented, “Where is this so-called economic growth? We can’t see it in the statistics! But the doubling rate of unemployment is surely evident.”

He further declared, “The puppet Prime Minister can get appreciation from his ‘fans’ by manipulating the numbers, but the masses will not be fooled by the PM’s illusion of economic prosperity.”

Perplexed at the conniving plan of the current government, Chairman PPP revealed that before presenting the fourth budget, Imran Khan brought his third finance minister and the fifth trade secretary. The economic team of the PM, however, was nowhere to be seen. “A few days before the budget, the PTI government changed the secretary of the finance department and then turned the economic catastrophe into a fake economic growth,” stated Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, outraged at the audacity of the reigning government.

“Imran Khan Niazi may be influenced by those who want their pockets filled, but I reject PTI’s plot to impose taxes worth billions of rupees in the PTIMF budget. The current inflation rate has caused enough suffering,” asserted Chairman PPP. “We will not sit idly and watch PM Imran Khan present one failed budget after another. Mark my words, his name will go down in the history of his country for his economic crimes. The country will never forgive him,” he concluded.

PPP stands for the right of freedom of expression, condemns attacks on journalists

Islamabad, 1 June 2021: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited journalist Asad Toor’s residence to express solidarity with him. He was accompanied by Fahatullah Babar, Senator Raza Rabbani, Faisal Karim Kundi, Nasir Shah, Murtaza Wahab and Nazir Dhoki.

Afterwards Chairman Bilawal talking to journalists said that the attacker who assaulted Asad Toor were coward who thinks themselves as brave people. They have sent a message of weakness and cowardice and insecurity that they cannot tolerate even a Vlog.  These kinds of incidents do not happen in democratic countries. He said that he will take this issue in the human rights committee of the National Assembly. He requested Asad Toor to present his case in the committee. We will also request PFUJ to work with us for journalists’ security. We have to hold these attackers responsible.

Chairman Bilawal said that this government cannot provide security to the journalists in the federal capital where foreign embassies are situated and the prime minister brags wrongly about freedom of the press in Pakistan. The prime minister tells lies to the entire world. Chairman Bhutto said that we all as a society will have to fight for the freedom of the press in the country. If we do not stand with journalists then if we become the target of such attacks then no one will stand with us. We condemn these attacks and also the campaigns of character assassination and fake news against journalists. We salute the bravery of Asad Toor and we know that with such attacks Asad Toor cannot be silenced.

Responding to questions, he said that we all in the government and opposition have to be at one page and condemn the attacker and bring them to book. Such attacks have become a norm in the country and journalists cannot work in this environment of terror. He said that before this attack Absar Alam was attacked and before him Mutiullah Jan as well so we have to talk about these issues in the standing committee.

Earlier in the day, Chairman Bilawal met the party senators and discussed the issues regarding the budget for the next financial year. He was also briefed about the Pakistan Media Development Authority ordinance. Chairman PPP said that PPP will oppose every effort to crush the freedom of expression by this puppet government. He said that it is unfortunate that the government is running on ordinances ignoring the parliament. The PPP will oppose this anti-people budget in the parliament.
