The Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party, Muhammad Humayun Khan, has stated that the recent press conference held by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mustafa Kamal reflects a clear lack of understanding of the Constitution and constitutional principles.
He said that both leaders appear not to have undertaken a serious study of the Constitution and the law. Had they understood constitutional requirements and democratic norms, they would have refrained from issuing such irresponsible statements. As Federal Ministers, such remarks are not only inappropriate but also risk creating misunderstandings between the Federation and the provinces.
Muhammad Humayun Khan has called upon the federal government to issue an immediate and clear response on the matter. He questioned whether the statements made by the two Federal Ministers represent the official policy of the federal government. If not, he urged the government to clarify why its ministers and an allied party are continuously engaged in propaganda and conspiratorial politics against the Sindh government.
He further stated that the Governor House is a constitutional office and a symbol of the state’s dignity. It should not be turned into a center for political confrontation or activities directed against a provincial government. At a time when the country is already facing serious political and economic challenges, creating tension between the Federation and the provinces is neither wise nor responsible.
The Pakistan Peoples Party expects the federal government to take serious notice of the situation and ensure that its ministers act responsibly and remain within constitutional limits.
