Chairman Bilawal addresses Party gathering in Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur, 13 January 2024: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressing the Party’s public gathering in Bahawalpur, Punjab said that the Jiyalas are running the electoral campaign nationwide. The PPP is contesting the elections not because of any personal interest, but to serve the people. Pakistan is going through a tumultuous time and is facing a historic economic crisis, with unprecedented increases in inflation, unemployment and poverty. When Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of the Party, the country was going through a financial crisis then too, the Quaid-e-Awam gave us a manifesto that helped strengthen the downtrodden masses of the country, including the poor farmers and labourers. Once again, we require a pro-people, pro-labourer, pro-farmer and pro-poor government. The rest of the political parties represent the elite while the PPP represents the common people. If the people stamp the symbol of the arrow, then the government forming resultantly will be theirs. The Pakistan Peoples Party, following the footsteps of Shaheed Quaid-e-Awam is contesting the elections based on a 10-point economic contract.

Chairman Bilawal said that his first aim would be to not only increase the wages, but double them within five years. The workers of Bahawalpur should apprise the people of the PPP’s aims, which include providing free and quality education to the people, establishing an IT university in the city and nationwide. It is the PPP’s promise to Bahawalpur that it will establish free-of-cost healthcare institutions such as the NICVD. We will begin with South Punjab, and every district of the region will get a free hospital, followed by the rest of Punjab. When Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was in office, he gave ownership to the people, and launched a ‘5 Marla scheme’, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto introduced a ‘7 Marla scheme’. The people should support the PPP so that it can fulfil its aims of building three million homes for the people nationwide, as it is already doing in Sindh, while giving ownership to the women of the households. Chairman Bilawal directed the Party’s workers to go to every area with temporary housing, and let the people know that it is our aim to regularise the construction and give them ownership so they too can live in the serenity of their own home.

Chairman Bilawal instructed the Party workers to go to every doorstep and tell the people that the PPP plans to expand the revolutionary, internationally-acclaimed Benazir Income Support Programme to incorporate employment, education and health facilities for the poor women of the country. The PPP also aims to give interest-free loan to the poor women of the country so they can make their contribution to society while attaining independence. “Bilawal Bhutto’s government will introduce the ‘Benazir Mazdoor Card’ and the ‘Benazir Kissan Card’ to provide the labourers and farmers of the country with financial assistance directly”, Chairman Bilawal resolved. Subsidies will be provided directly to the growers and farmers so that their crops are insured and they do not have to bear the burden of any unforeseen catastrophe.

Addressing the youth, Chairman Bilawal said that he plans on introducing the ‘Youth Card’ to provide the youngsters with financial assistance as well as equip them with the necessary skills to see to it that they flourish professionally. The PPP will also establish ‘Youth Centers’ in every district. The PPP also aims to initiate the ‘Bhook Mitao Programme’ to combat with hunger on the level of union councils, and provide free lunch in schools, as well as look after the new mothers and infants for the first thousand days so that no one goes to sleep on an empty stomach in the country.

Chairman PPP said that he is contesting the elections on these 10 points, and the PPP will be victorious and a government of the people will be formed. The PPP is not competing with any other party, it is the party of martyrs. The PPP’s only competition is the inflation, poverty and unemployment. When given the opportunity, the PPP will show how a government can cater to the poor, farmers and labourers. The PPP is the only party that has the skills to do this, and its history is a testimony of this. It is the season of elections and the PPP is focusing especially on Punjab, and the Party will be triumphant in all the provinces. The PPP will not only form the federal government, but also the provincial governments. A Jiyala will be the CM of Punjab, Chairman Bilawal said.

Chairman PPP said that the Jiyalas of the Party would have to struggle for their victory and work hard as if it is a matter of life and death. We have all the answers to the problems that the country is faced with. None of the other parties are interested in the crises faced by their people, they only care for power and have resorted to settling scores against each other out of personal vendettas. The PPP wishes to bury the traditional politics of hate and division, and will introduce a new form of politics, the aim of which would be to serve the poor and downtrodden. One political party is contesting the elections to avoid prison, while the other is doing so for its leader to be released from jail. The PPP is the only party that is contesting solely for the people.

Chairman PPP said that when someone is out to hunt a lion, a bat is rendered redundant, and only the arrow works. This is the season of hunting, and the people have to prove that ‘Aaj Bhi Bhutto Zinda Hai’, by stamping the symbol of the arrow on February 8. Chairman Bilawal said that Ali Hasan Gilani and Hafiz Hussain are the Party’s representative from Bahawalpur, and they are to be made victorious. Malik Shahrukh is the Party’s candidate from the provincial and National Assemblies, and he has to win so that the people can be served by the Party. Abdul Mujeeb Chanar, Naseem Shah, Amin Shah, Rifatur Rehman, Dost Muhammad Khosa, Tatheer ul Hassan and Mr. Gardezi are the Party’s candidates and will be triumphant with the support of the people.

Chairman Bilawal welcomed Zafar Warraich to the Party and announced that he will be contesting on its behalf in Rahimyar Khan.

It was also heard that the PTI has quite an influence in Lahore, but the people should tell us whether that is the case. The PPP is the sole party that is ready to contest the elections in Lahore. Manzar Abbas Khokhar who has joined the PPP from the PML-N will represent the Party in PP-162. It is hoped that he will be the next MPA of the people. This is the PPP’s electoral panel from NA-127, Chairman Bilawal said.

Chairman Bilawal said that he is confident about implementing the PPP’s message of unity and harmony, and the Party will initiate it from NA-127. We have to bury the conflicts within to work under the flag of the PPP, and strive for the sake of the ‘arrow’ and Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, to show the world that Lahore was, is and will forever belong to the Bhuttos. We are not those who will scare easy, we have never bowed before tyranny and will continue to work solely for the people of the country. The workers of the Party have to go to every doorstep to convey our message and 10-point socioeconomic contract with the people. Chairman Bilawal promised the nation that if given the opportunity to serve the people as their PM, he vows to double the salaries of the people within five years, provide 300 units of electricity free-of-cost and guarantee free and quality education for the youth. Chairman Bilawal said that he wishes to establish free-of-cost healthcare institutions meeting international standards in Lahore and all over Punjab, as he has done in Sindh. We will also build three million houses for our poor brothers and give the ownership to the women of the households, for which it is imperative that the arrow is stamped on election day, he said. Moreover, the onus is on the workers of the Party to visit areas with temporary housing and tell them that the PPP government will regularise their housing. We will not only expand the Benazir Income Support Programme, but facilitate our farmers and workers through the ‘Benazir Mazdoor Card’ and ‘Benazir Kissan Card’. Chairman Bilawal directed the workers to apprise the youngsters of the PPP’s ‘Youth Card’, the aspiration behind which is to help them prosper by supporting them financially. We also aim to eradicate hunger, for which we will initiate the ‘Bhook Mitao Programme’, Chairman PPP resolved.

Chairman Bilawal said that he vows to ensure that the plethora of issues faced by the people are addressed, be it poverty, unemployment or inflation. The PPP does not believe in the politics of hate and division, and it wishes to put an end to the traditional form of doing politics. We wish to introduce a new form of politics, that forgoes the personal vendettas and egoism. The elections are to take place on February 8. The PML-N has made a habit of running from the elections, be it the local government elections, bye-elections or general elections. The people now have to show the PML-N that the elections will take place on February 8 and it has nowhere to run, Chairman Bilawal said. The PPP will be victorious and change the destiny of the people. Chairman Bilawal instructed the Party’s Jiyalas to continue their struggle for the Party.

Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari visits Climate Resilient Houses in Sindh

Today, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, along with Bibi Sanam Bhutto, visited newly constructed climate resilient houses in two villages in Naudero, Larkana, Sindh. This initiative, under the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Sindh Peoples Housing for Flood Affectees program, aims to rebuild 2 million houses destroyed during the catastrophic floods and empower marginalized communities.

In Village Wandh Ali Mohammad Kartio, Talka Ratodero District Larkana, a total of 92 houses are being constructed, with 18 already completed. Similarly, in Village Allah Warayo Solangi, UC Garhi Khuda Baksh Bhutto Talka Ratodero District Larkana, a total of 224 houses will be built, with 29 already constructed. These houses not only provide shelter for flood-affected families but also grant land titles in the name of women heads of households.

Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was deeply moved by the opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of these initiatives. Meeting with individuals like Ms. Munawar Khatoon and Meem Khatoon, whose houses have been rebuilt and received land titles in their names, was heartwarming. This endeavor highlights the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to empowering the most vulnerable segments of society.

In her interactions with the women of these communities, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari took the time to listen to their grievances and concerns. She was accompanied by Political Secretary to Chairman PPP, Mr. Jameel Soomro, former Provincial Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal, and Khursheed Junejo, showcasing the united effort of the party towards the betterment of the people.

The Pakistan People’s Party has long been dedicated to uplifting the poor and marginalized. The party’s slogan, “Roti Kapra Aur Makaan,” is a testament to its commitment to providing food, clothing, and housing for all. Through the construction of climate resilient houses for flood affectees, the party aims not only to provide shelter but also to empower millions of women in the process.

Looking ahead, if elected on 8th February, the PPP pledges to build an additional 3 million climate resilient houses across Pakistan. The party envisions a future where land titles are transferred to women heads of households, enabling millions of individuals to have a home and millions of women to gain empowerment.

This commitment reflects the fulfillment of one of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s most central promises, ‘Makaan’, which Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is upholding through his dedication to fighting for reconstruction and land transfer, empowering the marginalised not just with shelter today, but with a more secure tomorrow.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari media talk in Lahore

Election campaign in NA-127

Lahore/Islamabad/Karachi, 6 January 2024: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari talking to the media in Lahore, constituency NA-127 on Saturday said that “A perception is given on the television that Lahore has canals of milk and honey whereas in my tours, I have witnessed that the city needs ample work”. He said that people from every strata of the society live here but the government always represents the elite.

Chairman Bilawal said that the PPP represents every strata of the society and believes in inclusive politics. The PPP’s 10-point agenda will be able to eradicate issues such as unemployment, poverty and inflation. For this, we need the support of the people.

Responding to questions by the journalists, Chairman Bilawal said that the elections are to be held on 8 February and no resolution by the Senate, United Nations or OIC can delay it. The Chief Justice has said that 8 February is written in the stone as the polling day and InshaAllah elections will be held on 8 February. The people will exercise their right to vote. The PPP should be given a chance so that the issues of the people are solved.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the PPP has contested elections in very difficult circumstances. Those who are complaining about rejection of their nomination papers should know that in 2013 more nomination papers were rejected than now. Our demand has been for free and fair elections. We have 10-point agenda and believe that the people will support us. The PPP was founded in this city, Lahore. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had chosen this city to land after returning to the country from exile in 1986. The PPP workers were arrested in this city and they self-immolated after the martyrdom of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in protest. It is the right of the PPP to have a claim on this city. Anti-democratic people like General Zia and General Hameed Gul imposed other political parties in this province just to keep the PPP out of this province. The PPP thinks that Lahore belongs to us and this is the reason that we are starting the election campaign from this city. We are ready to contest elections and want to revive the relation with this city which we had during the times of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Chairman Bilawal said.

Chairman PPP responding to another question said that he was studying at the University of Oxford during the PPP government of 2008-2013. The performance of this government was better than the governments in 2013 and 2018. The PPP’s economic policy, the alleviation of poverty, support for the downtrodden, the right of the province were all the achievements of our government in 2008-2013. Shehbaz Sharif was able to work because through the NFC, the PPP provided the required resources.

“I regret that Shehbaz Sharif’s government did not represent the youth, labourers and growers but the elite, industrialists and business community”, Chairman Bilawal said. He further said that it is his right to struggle for the cause of the poor of this province. The PPP will be triumphant. The PPP always fulfilled the promises made in its manifestoes in the past. In 2007, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had given a manifesto which was implemented during the Party’s government in 2008-2013. We introduced the 18th Amendment in the Constitution as well as the Benazir Income Support Programme. Chairman Bilawal said that the promises made in Sindh were all implemented. The promises which were made to the flood victims are being fulfilled. We will fulfill all the promises made to the youth, labourers and growers in our 10-point manifesto. We have promised to double the income of the people in the next five years and give 300 units of electricity to the poor free-of-cost. Behind these aspirations, we have got a strategy and the finances necessary. When the PPP comes to power, the people will reap the benefits of this 10-point agenda. Chairman Bilawal said that he is contesting the elections to see to it that his manifesto is implemented, while the PML-N’s intention to contest the elections is to help their leader avoid prison while the PTI is doing the same for its leader to be released from prison.

Earlier speaking at a church in Bahar Colony, in the constituency NA-127 Chairman Bilawal said that his grandfather, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the basis of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Lahore. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto too had chosen the city of Lahore to land when returning to the country from exile in 1986. Chairman PPP said that he has chosen to contest from Lahore so that the PPP can once again take ownership of the city and its people, as it has in the past. The PPP is the sole party that does not believe in the politics of hate and division. It believes in equality, and that is the very message it will be contesting the elections with. Chairman Bilawal said that he wishes to be the representative of the people so that we can convey to the entire world that there is a path separate from that treaded by the traditional politicians who believe in hate and division. We wish to play our role in helping the country progress. He said that he has come to the people to ask for their support, as nothing can then be an obstacle for him. Chairman Bilawal said that he is of the people and will stay theirs, and will not let anyone harbour any ill-intentions towards them. “If anyone harbours any ill-intentions, then they would have to go through me. I stand shoulder to shoulder with the people and will not allow for injustice to be meted out”, Chairman Bilawal resolved. The PPP has always represented the downtrodden, which is why its leadership and workers have been targeted and martyred so that other parties can fill the vacuum created. “PPP’s governor sacrificed his life and my brother Shaheed Shahbaz Bhatti was martyred” Chairman Bilawal said. The PPP was deliberately distanced from Punjab as per a planned conspiracy, it was maligned and attack. Chairman Bilawal said that he has returned to form a government of the people, and get the PPP its due rights. “It is our appeal from the people to represent me, like my advocates and ambassadors and to take the Party’s manifesto to every doorstep”, Chairman Bilawal said. The people and the PPP will be victorious.

Chairman Bilawal toured his constituency during his election campaign and met with the people. He also visited different churches in Bahar colony and Modern colony. He also visited the residences of Pastor Anwer Fazal, Bishop Naeem Parshad and the head offices of the Isaac television in the constituency. The people including women and children came out of their houses to greet Chairman Bilawal and at several places showered rose petals on the campaigning party.

Secretary General PPPP Senator Taj Haider’s press statement

Secretary General of Pakistan People’s Party, Senator Taj Haider, in a press statement issued today, has cautioned that those who were demanding postponement of General Elections were demoralising the entire nation and encouraging and emboldening the handful of person who were indulging in heinous terrorist acts. This Nation, its Constitution and its democratic system could not be held hostage by small terrorist groups.

Democracy and Terrorism cannot co-exist. The Government of Pakistan People’s Party had liberated large areas of Pakistan which had been occupied by terrorist groups during the Musharraf dictatorship. Discontinuation of operation against these groups by the succeeding PML(N) government under the cover of negotiations gave the defeated  terrorist organisations the time and space to regroup and rearm and to rise once again as a potential threat to our peace and security.

Senator Taj Haider said that the succeeding PTI government went one step further in appeasing terrorist groups when it invited thousands of armed terrorist to set up their camps on the soil of Pakistan. The continuing shahadats of our Jawans on a daily basis are a direct result of that facilitation of terrorism made by the PTI Government.

We owe it to the blood of our Shaheed Jawans to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in the war against terrorism and not to spread fear, despondency and uncertainty which directly help extremist and terrorist groups in their nefarious attempts to derail democracy.

Fear, Frustration and Despondency are poisons for our national life, peace and security. Pakistan People’s Party ever since it was established as a political platform for the working classes and the marginalised ones has courageously stood against extremism and terrorism. Let the discussion on any kind of postponement of the electoral process be buried for ever and let the Constitution and Democracy prevail.
